Hey J,
I've used ROTELLA 15/40 wt oil in my B engines for decades. IMV, it is called/known as 'diesel' oil, because it contains elements that make it suitable, maybe preferable, for diesel engine use.
I believe that LOTS of model a owners have found that this is a good lubricant for A/B engines, and therefor use it.

We have used Walmart 20w-50 oil along with one 16oz bottle of the blue STP for years. We change oil at 500 miles or one year. Engine has about 20,000 miles on it.

Also use MMO in gas.

Engine runs quiet, very little dripping, no smoking, after 500 miles normally down about 3/4 of a quart.

I also have used Walmart 20w50 in my model A's for years . Mobil produces it and Walmart sells it under tgheir trademark for less . It works good for me .

I use whatever brand of oil is on special or has just been on special. I sometimes buy in advance of need. 20/50 comes up fairly often so that's what I use. No dramas. It is light years ahead of what was used in the day and is a detergent oil. I run an oil filter and change at about 2,000 miles or when the gauges say it's time. I have a pressurised centre main bearing and when the oil is losing its "guts", the pressure starts to drop at a standard speed and temperature. As soon as that happens, out it goes. Sometimes, 2,000 miles is about 2 weeks driving, sometimes a year.

Rotella 15W 40, the rebuilder told me to always add a bottle of zinc.

I use ANY Multi-Weight oil, if it LOOKS/SMELLS/FEELS right. "Some" are impressed by TRICKY/COLORFUL labels, also! I go a lot by the "feel", it's GOT to feel REAL SCHLICKERY!

Good old Walmart Mobil 1 10/30 synthetic. I use it in most of my cars and lawn tractor I like having one brand to use. That way I don’t have 10 different containers of oils to store. I like this simple!!

The next time someone tells you you need it, ask them why you need something that was not added to oil until the 1940's?

Will it do harm? No
Will it get you out on the road more if you use it? Then use it.

I use 20-50 in my worn out POS old dodge pickup. My Model A gets 10w-30 as recommended by the guy that rebuilt my short block. The A uses no oil.

I hqve used Castoral GTX 20-50 for over35 Years. Change oil between 1500-2000 miles, even though the oil still looks new. Have filter and insert main and rod bearings on 2 of the engines.

The reason I started using Casterol GTX 20-50, there was a article in Motor Trend Magazine that rated oil by the company, based on their quality control; Castrerol GTX was rated # 1.

My 3rd A does is not driven much as it was built for show; the engine is stock and only has around 50 miles on it. It also has GTX 20-50 in it.

So far, no problems with any of the engines.

Tried Walmart 20w50 also and my engine seemed to like it.
