I use wood or plastic dowels. I use masking tape to hold bolts onto the end of the dowels and set them into a board with holes while they dry. Nuts are slipped down the dowel with a few layers of masking tape between each nut to keep them separated. The dowels are great handles to hold/rotate the parts while you spray paint on them.
