You always know your in for a long struggle when the "black book" figures an hour to do this job. I usually multiply the numbers in the book by 2 or 3 depending on the condition of the fasteners and rust
![]() Crank case front bearing cotters/nuts came off well but the pictured spring was so rusted up inside the frame rails I had to cut the tie bolt and drive apart the leaves. Last picture of old and new spring from "T" springs in W Hartford CT. |

Congrats. Tell us how it works. When you can.
I've considered doing the same; After several needier chores.

Got the new spring and shackles installed, waiting for the paint to cure on the front spring clip bar and other small parts.
Hope to get a road test in before the snow flies and then start changing the bands. |

A friend of mine once insisted that I understand the importance of unhooking the battery when changing bands.
It seems that having his hand in the trans and accidently leaning on the start button was very uncomfortable.

![]() That is a great reminder indeed, kinda like making sure the e-brake lever is all the way BACK and set before trying to hand crank the engine ![]() |
