Potter Mfg, Co. Trunk -
Just acquired a Potter Mfg. Co, trunk in wonderful condition from the attic at an estate sale. It appears to be unused with only minor scratching on the outside. The chrome corners, latches and hinges are perfect.
The dimensions are 18" high, 16.5" deep and 36.5" wide at the base. The leather handles are slightly dry , but intact and in good condition. The inside is like brand new and the wooden floor looks like it has never been used. There are 4 drilled holes in the bottom. Would love some info. Someone told me this went to a early 30's Ford, but the 36.5" width seems to large. Would think it was more likely for a Lincoln, Caddy, or Packard... Any help would be appreciated....What is it worth? |

Re: Potter Mfg, Co. Trunk -
Welcome to the Ford Barn. Your Potters trunk would appear not to be made for any particular make or model car. It is made to sit on a fold down luggage rack as long as it fits on same. The 1933 - 34 Fords could be had with a tailor made potters trunk that did not sit on a luggage rack but fitted against the rear contour of the cars body. Your trunk is in better shape than most so its worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Regards, Kevin.

Beals & Selkirk of Wyandotte, Michigan made the trunks offered by Lincoln in the classic era.

This is what a Potter Trunk on a '34 Ford looks like >
