Another guy that can bend the reproduction aluminum tack strip is Jerry Eckholdt, O'Fallon, MO, 636-240-8712.

Be sure to give Jerry or Mark your year and body style. Three Windows have a different corner radius that the other closed car body styles and 33s/34s tack strips are different than 32s.

One trick I have used on several 32 closed cars is to build a wooden frame from 1x3 pine the same size as the material for the top. When the wood frame is complete it should be way bigger than the opening in the roof. Staple the roof material to the frame keeping it reasonably taut. Carefully lay it on top of the car. Don't drag it ! After a few minutes the profile of the opening will appear. A sunny day helps. Leave the wood in place and attach the material and tack strips as the previous posts suggested. The wood frame keeps the top wrinkle free and even across the top. When you are done use a razor to cut the wood frame off. An extra set of hands will help here. Then carefully trim the rest of the material at the edge of the tack strip. A thin bead of black sealer will cover the cut edge nicely. Save the wood for the next one you do. You do know this disease is progressive, right? Hope this helps.

In my opinion, the LeBaron Bonney top kit looks much better than the Julianos kit. The LeBaron Bonney looks more like the original than the other one which is taller when installed. JMO

This is a project that I need top undertake myself, and like J Grayson, don't care for the look of the Juliano design. I wonder why it seems to stick up so much higher than the original?

Some good advice here as I am trying to finish a job I paid a (professional?) to do.

I am using the original strip on my 5 window and have questions as to how close it is recommended to place the nails/screws used to hold it down.'

Trying to find good stainless steel Phillips screws was a challenge. I purchased screws that were # 3 Phillips that I had to turn the heads down to go into the strip slot. The screws are straight body which I didn't like but I couldn't find better a choice.

Lots of good information here with these posts. However, if you install chicken wire be sure to put a strip of denim or cotton duck on top of the wood bows before installing the wire. If not, the chicken wire will squeak where it contacts the wood and drive you crazy.
Simple to do and it sure beats ripping out the headliner to fix a squeak.

Look at the "restorations" from the seventies and you will see that we didn't figure it out.

Need the dimension for comparison.

The radius is different between the 3&5W. Also front is different than rear on both. What specifically do you want to compare?

Trying to get the rear radii of either model, the 5 window looks larger. Repros are available with prebent corners that may be able to be used on other models such as a sedan.
