Default 59 A Con Rod ID

Have 2 59A 3 3/16" engines. 1946.
One has these Con Rods: 29A -6205 with insert bearings.
Other has these Con Rods: 8BA-6205A also with insert bearings.
2 oil holes at crank pins.

Are these Con Rods both the same? As far as ID of required insert bearings which need to be 30 thou U/S.

Thought the 8ba insert bearings should do the trick.
Thanks,
Phil NZ

Phil, No, these are two different con rods and each has separate bearings, 8BA bearings are thinner than the 29A style. Either type will work on your large journal, twin oil hole cranks.
However, finding lock in style 29A bearings is very difficult. They were a Canadian only design. The regular 239 full floaters will work perfectly however with those 29A rods.
Your cheapest, easiest way to go would be to run 8BA bearings with the 8BA rods.

Hi Brian,
Have just checked past posts as you posted and found what I need.
The bearings as you say are C49A-6215. 030 that I will require or as you suggest go with the 8BA rods and bearings as is in the failed engine.
Many thanks.

You can always weight match the 2 8BA rods to the 6 good in the broken engine and get a set...then find a couple of 29 rods and match thoose to this set and that way you have 2 sets to go.
You need access to a good scale and a lathe to get it done.
