original rear end ??? sounds like its floating all over the place any chance of some pics as original would have been torque tube style you need to tie it down some how ie track rods/hairpins/ parallel springs

Open driveshaft. I am going to have the DS rebuilt. Angles are right so is the balance but it looks like the ujs are not aligned.

You never posted how the rear axle is installed, what supports it?

I remember when I put a 67 4 speed in my 59 corvette I had to raise the tail shaft about 1/2 to stop a vibration. JMHO.

I'd like to revive this thread. I know this is better suited for the Hamb, but there's a lot of talented people here on the barn that deal with this problem. When I installed the new motor in my car, I had to raise the motor mounts up to clear the oil pan which was modified for main bearing cap supports. That pushed my angle to 3*. I'm not sure what the original degree was, but I don't remember any driveline vibration. Now I need to correct my rear angle by 2.5*. I purchased the proper shims and installed them yesterday. My original reading at the pinion yoke face was .4*. My 35 coupe has a Ford 9" with parallel leafs from Weedetr. After I installed the shims, I put everything back together and dropped the car back down on the wheels. I climbed under to get a reading, and I was getting 5* of angle on the pinion yoke instead of 2.5.
Can someone tell me what I may have done wrong?
Thanks

Now it only vibrates from 51 to 58. If not moving and rev the engine in neutral there are no vibes. Clutch in or out. Driving at 58mph and hold in the clutch, it will vibrate all the way down to 20 mph. in neutral or in 5 th gear. I have balanced the fly wheel, checked bearings and universals. WHAT AM I MISSING. The truck is my 37 ford pickup with a 53 8BA and a 84 S-10 trans
and open drive shaft.
Let me begin by saying - I don't know what I'm talking about... now that I have that out of the way - misalignment from the transmission spline to the differential can definitely cause vibration. I installed a 9.75" Dana into my '35 years ago and didn't have the spline-to-spline alignment (angle of attack) right. I spend several hours - over a couple days playing with little metal wedges in combinations between the differential spring mount and the springs until I got rid of the vibration. It was very frustrating and I bellowed a few 'words of frustration' before I was finally finished. Mind you, that old beast had many rattles and vibrations so I probably just got it to harmonize with one of the existing vibration in the car.

Was the flywheel and clutch balanced?
