Default 29 Windshield help

Hello,
Getting back to work on my 29 Fordor. Need to change the rubber that hold the windshield in the frame and paint the frame. So far I have removed the top of the frame and hinge.
How do I remove the glass from the bottom part of the frame? Is there a trick or just pull?
Should I clean and paint the frame before or after re-installing the glass? Is there a trick to re-installing the glass?

Thank You
Rich

Once the top section is removed and to remove the remainder or all of the glass - use a block of wood, a large hammer and pound away. I did the task - the windshield glass is very strong, but it will come out.
