Default Help with stuck U joint

I'm trying to remove an engine out of a 24 T chassis. I have it free everywhere except the u joint is stuck in the back of the transmission. There doesn't seem to be any place to apply heat and soaking in penetrant hasn't helped. Motor is stuck so I can't rotate. Any advice appreciated. Steve

Can you put the transmission in neutral? If so and you can get to them, take the plugs out and knock out the rivet holding the U-joint to the shaft after your rotate the driveshaft. You did remove the 4 bolts holding the cap on off?

The end of the driveshaft and the hole in the u-joint it slides into is square- not a lot of surface area to bind up, and it's usually been soaked in grease. If the engine is locked up and you can't move it, how about jacking up one rear wheel and rocking it back and forth while lifting the engine out?

The transmission is locked up also. I took the plugs out but the pin at the back of the u joint is not visible. The u joint still flexes well, just won't slide out . I have the engine suspended so I can rock it, but haven't tried rocking the wheels because there are none. Just axles, no hubs. Thanks, Steve

Got it apart by attaching a ratchet strap to the rear axle bulling backwards and a come a long on the engine pulling forward and driving the u joint forward through the grease hole in the torque tube with a punch until the pin in the u joint sheared! Steve

Yikes! It's good you got it apart, now you can look into why the u-joint was so stuck on the driveshaft. Is it just rust?
