Default AA clutch disk

I need to find out what clutch disk the AA trucks came out with. I was under the impression they had the same clutch disk and pressure plate but in heavy duty. I also, understood the disk was 9" not 10". I think it would be a tight squeeze to get a 10 in the flywheel.

James -
The AA Truck clutch plate has the same O.D. as the Model A clutch plate. However, the clutch facings have a smaller I.D. so there is more contact surface with the flywheel. I put an NOS AA clutch plate in my Roadster when I restored it - figured it would last longer! I also have another NOS one buried some where in my stuff.

Mitch, you are correct about it being for Tom's truck. I looked up all the info I could find including the service bulletins and Henry's Lady and the judging standards. All any of them indicate the pressure plate had stronger springs and a wider clutch facing, not a 10" disk. I always thought and have always seen the AA with a 9" disk. I never measured the lining to see if it is wider. I think the stock disk will work fine with the V8 style plate since it has more clamping pressure than the stock plate.

If you use a later model clutch plate with the spring loaded center section it make driving more comfortable. No jerky starts.

I bought an NOS 10" plate at a swap meet for the 1930 AA I worked on. It fits and works just fine.

I wonder why some sources list a 10" and some list a 9" with wider linings? All the sources I have and read list the 9" with a "wider" lining.
