Default Late 31 oil pump shield?

I have read every thead known and the same question gets asked. Can 1/8” be trimmed off the bottom of a oil pump shield to fit in a older pan? But it never get answered or does it just not make sense to do so because there will be not added benifit? I understand the pans had lowered dipper trays that the shield came with. Thanks Ben

Interesting question. Anyone done the trimming successfully ? Would the extra 1/8" compromise flow because the dipper tray is not lowered? FORD must have had some reason not to refit prior (higher) trays.

Not sure what this is in reference to. Having examined a repop shield, it looks like it can trimmed at the bottom edge but not sure there would be adverse oil pumping or volume issues with the non lowered tray? Could the oil pump or rod dippers oil pickup operations be affected ?

I bought several from Model A Medic that fits the earlier trays. I would assume it has been trimmed. They fit fine.

We found a repo shield in a spare parts box (not sure of the vendor) that measures 3 1/4" from the bottom to the top mount flange plate. The photo is slightly distorted. How does this compare to an original, if anyone has one? Model A medic lists one that is trimmed 1/8" to fit older trays.
