I've got a 1930 model A pick-up. The water pump packing's are leaking so I ordered a new one and they came in a set of two. Being they have a split in them do I use both to off set the splits? I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks-Bob

I'd put one in andf see how far the tightening nut goes on and add the second if it goes a long way on the thread. I suspect both are needed, though I haven't used them. I convert my pumps to a modern seal
Whether you use one or two, don't forget to grease them up well before srewing them down.

Yup, it's as simple as that.

Dig out the old stuff, grease the lead packing rings, and stagger the gaps. Snug the nut, run the engine, and snug it again just enough to stop any dripping.
