Checking U joint
I have a sort of "tinny rattle" down by the shiftier. can't seem to locate the cause. Don't think it is heave enough to be a U joint but am wanting to check anyway. SO, what is the best way to check the U joint without pulling the torque tube and rear end?

Re: Checking U joint
Once had a THUNK, on a quick take off, in Minerva. "Thought" it was the U-JOINT---It was my BIg Magnalite Flashlite, rolling around under the seat.

Re: Checking U joint
To check the u joint you could take the clam shell off which would give you some access to the u joint. With the transmittion in gear you might be able to rock the drive shaft enough to see if there is any play. I have not actually tried this but short of pulling the rear it may work. If your really suspecting the u joint I would pull the rear. Somewhat time consuming but not a bad job.
