The fan assembly on my '51 is getting noisy. Ross-F1 here and on the H.A.M.B. had a thread about replacing the fan bearing. It requires a NSK 885586 water pump bearing, which used to be available. I have been looking for the last half hour, and it seems that anyone who will sell "onesie's-twosie's" is out of stock, leaving the suppliers who want to quote them in thousand's quantities for delivery next year.

Does anyone out there have a source for these? In the alternative, someone who rebuilds these would be nice to know about, or even a good used unit would be nice. I do have an extra truck assembly that I could use in a pinch, but would rather keep the original car unit.

Most larger cities have bearing supply shops that have about any bearing there is.

I got mine at Kaman Bearing here in Albuquerque. I'm sure they'd have one shipped to you. They don't stock it, as I recall it came from NV. Google them, they have offices all around the country, including both FL and MN

Well, after a lot of fooling around, I was able to place an order with Fastenal, although they want over twice what seemed to have been the going price. Hopefully I'll get what I need from them, although with all the disclaimers on their website, I'm not 100% confident. I had seen their website, but was looking for something better because of these reasons. Motion Industries was a complete wash-out. The person I talked to there had no idea what I was talking about, and wanted my contact so she could get back to me "in a few days". I'm up here in Northern Minnesota, so stopping by my local bearing supply shop is problematic.

I was looking for a "1-800-GET-PART" solution because this seems to be a common item. I guess it isn't.

I found my last one on Flea-Pay. They are very similar to the 8BA family of water pump double row bearings except they have a longer shaft for a universal "cut where you need to" shaft.
