I already have my copy of the book. Although my 60 is a service replacement built on the intermediate block, it has all the other '40 features. A modified engine for my Model A would likely be counterproductive because the small engine is pretty weak at lower RPM. Good news on the book: Fred A |

I put a 60hp in my '52 MGTD a few years ago, with a Mustang t-5 and 3.9 gears in the rear. Goes quite well. Marvin, ct

Re: V8-60 Fords Little Powerhouse
I'm a bit skeptical about this actually happening. Marty Willim, son of the original author, Rich Willim, was heading up this effort. He posts on one of the Flathead groups on Facebook, and I sent him a message about when this reprint of his Dad's book might go to press. I don't recall his exact response, but it was not too reassuring that this will ever happen.
I do see copies of the original book come up on eBay occasionally. That may be your best source.

Re: V8-60 Fords Little Powerhouse
Don't have a 60 & never will, but think they are kool. A cousin had one in an A 2dr sedan with dual carbs & a very lumpy cam in 1959. Some guy guy in a 55 chebby got surprised when it jumped ahead of him at a stop light. I just may buy a copy 4 the fun of it! mike

Re: V8-60 Fords Little Powerhouse
I have a friend that has a couple 60's. One is tin sided, the other not.
I hope Marty gets some reprints out on the market. Would like to buy one. .

Re: V8-60 Fords Little Powerhouse
My car was one of the first fitted with a 60. It only went into a Model 48 because the Model 62 car wasn't ready yet. It pulls the coupe just fine but because it was the first application they put a ridiculous 4.77 rear end in. I keep wanting to shift into 4th!
I definitely want a copy of the book. |

Re: V8-60 Fords Little Powerhouse
Ol Ron there are 4 versions of the U.S. V860.
Tin Side (actually stainless steel) were casted in 36. 37 Iron Side (casted in 37 and used for 37-38-early 39) 40 Iron Side (casted in 39) And a 40 service block (looks like a 37 but uses a 40 crank & oil pan) |

Re: V8-60 Fords Little Powerhouse
I reached a road block with the reprint. Had the 1st few pages scanned from my book. They looked like scans/photocopies.
Was not happy with the resaults. Spent $120.00 to get dad's computer fixed with hopes the digital copy would be in there... NO LUCK So besides, work, prep'n my old house to sell, family and other life projects I am hunting for the digital copy of the book. I know my dad. He would have a copy or the or the original somewhere. I just have to find WHERE. UNTIL than I made a Facebook Page for the book to help guys with questions. https://www.facebook.com/groups/718782558288683/ |

I sure hope you can pull this reprinting effort together in the near future, and make it happen for those who really want a copy of your Dad's book. I'm glad I ordered a copy as soon as they became available, about 12 years ago.
