Why does one car have a spare front axle tied on the front? Was it one they found or they thought they might need a spare?

No need to carry a spare front axle as they are not easy to damage.

Re: Model As and Ts on do or die Outback tour.
Those pics make me yearn to be out there again. Cameron’s corner is only a dawdle compared to some of the trips a friend of mine has done. We have done a few trips out there and love it. When another is organized, and I’m sure there will be, we’d appreciate the opportunity to go.
As for that axle, with a contingent of several Model Ts travelling on those roads, a spare axle would be a sensible spare to carry. Not sure whether it is a desert find or taken as a spare. Some of the first photos show that a spare axle was probably used and what we see on the front of that car might be the bent one they replaced.

Was the 'C' pillar/side/window style popular down there? I have seen less than half a dozen here but there are three or more there just on that trip.
