Default 1932 AMP or OIL Gauge?

Anyone know if there is a direct replacement mechanical OIL PRESSURE gauge that I could put in my stock 32 gauge panel instead of the AMPERES Gauge?
I think the opening is 1 7/8" or 15/16"?

Thanks,
Chad

I have never found a gage that would go THRU the panel. I have mounted gages from behind and are pushed forward as original. Enlarging the hole will remove the mounting plate and stud. It just takes a strap that will attach to the studs and pull the gage into the hole.

Here is a picture of the dashboard from the 1933 Ford pickup that was restored by the late Don Terry of Roseville, CA. The right hand gauge is the dual temp/fuel gauge and on the left is the very rare dual amp/oil "dual chex" gauge. The holes in this dash are the same dimension as the holes in the 1932 dash. Wouldn't it be nice to find one of those amp/oil chex gauges?

If you find one that needs repair contact Randy Stebbins at (602) 978-1746. He bought the tooling from Rudy Faltermeier who was the person that made an excellent reproduction of this gauge about 25 years ago. The problem is this is a check gauge that only tells you when you have no oil pressure. Sort of like a modern idiot light, when it goes on you really have a problem. As far as using modern gauges in the original dash, I have never seen one that fits.

Yes it would!

I have the Dual Temp/Fuel gauge that has just been restored.

I am hoping to find an old Rochester or SW gauge that would fit from behind in the stock hole. I really don't want to alter the size of the opening.

Maybe I need to retrofit an old OIL gauge into an old Ampere case and bezel...???

I am not opposed to mounting an old SW Wings gauge under the dash. I have an electric one but may look for a mechanical one for lack of space in the engine compartment for the sender.

Thanks for the numbers Charlie.

..you can buy an original type 32 gauge panel in stainless, without holes(Vintique). Then drill holes for the gauges you want to use. Of course, you would have to fab gauge mounting brackets on back side.

If you are by any chance running a Model B there is a gauge (Rexco?) for the Model A (call Bratton's) that might fit. It measures up to 10 psi.

Being alarmed at not knowing the oil pressure or temp of a very expensive flathead rebuild I did this to my 34 which will not alter the original dash, Stewart Warner wings would look much better than mine. These are both mechanical guages.
Gary.
The switch is for fog lights in case you are wondering.

It took a while but I rediscovered a picture of an oil pressure gauge that "fits the hole." Here is a picture of the dash in a 1934 Ford pickup from Delaware that was for sale back in 2007.
I wish I knew where the owner got that gauge.

Interesting.
I am going to try to mate a 32 gauge bezel to an old SW OIL gauge. I'll post when done.

Here's what I came up with. It's an old SW mechanical gauge behind a 32 Fuel gauge bezel.

This post is a couple of years old so thought would resurrect to see if anyone knew if there is a direct replacement mechanical OIL PRESSURE gauge that would fit into a stock 32 gauge panel from the back side?
