Default Fan questons

i am thinking of putting an 8 blade (8 bolt) 8ba fan on my 4 blade 59ab pulley. does this work #1 ? is it a pie in the sky idea, me thinking it will pull more air ?? or will it just drag the engine down ? looks like it would clear all hoses etc. I am sure someone has tried it. any suggestions.

thank you

What year? A lot of ideas here if it's a heating problem you are trying to solve / Most won't ROB Hp from you.

1947 ford 59ab really no heating issues even at 111 degrees here in AZ, just nothing to do in my head so I think up these silly ideas. I have an 8 blade fan sitting around and thought it might add something (in function and looks) but it also might drag making the engine work harder.

thanks

An eight blade might add noise and remove more fingers. My '47 has a six blade fiberglass fan and sounds like a WW2 B19 taking off. Thinking of converting to an electric or adapting a thermo clutch to it.

eight bladed fans were made for stationary engines, generators water pumps, winches, they were needed because air wasn't forced thru the rad with a moving car, leave the car alone

Also most stationary setups pushed the air through the rad (why blow hot air over the hot motor) so they are impractical for auto use.

This aluminum hub offered for alternators uses the early bolt on fan blades. Will it fit a generator?

Won't that put the fan too high to actually pull air through the radiator?
