Default Transmission question/1955 Ford Victoria

After driving around town couple of days ago I noticed when I was pulling away from a stop sign that the transmission has a whir sound. (probably spelled that wrong). The transmission seemed to work fine but I'm wondering if that is telling me there is a problem---hasn't done that before. I'd appreciate suggestions if you have them. Thanks

You posted in a forum intended for questions to the editors. You need to post here: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=5

Back to the question: Did you check the fluid level in the transmission? If it is low you are hearing air bubbles and foam.
