Default A Collector's Stuff is for Sale

I stopped by a guy’s place today that is 85 years old and wanting to sell out his collection of cars and parts.I was given the grand tour and while I liked a lot of what I saw left without purchasing anything.I’m not trying to sell any of the stuff but throwing out the items for discussion as to the prices.I thought they were high but wasn’t sure.I’m not going to buy anything no matter the price but thought it might be an interesting topic. It was freezing cold and I did not take any pictures. Here is what I found:I will give his # if anyone is interested.Location: Asheboro, NC

From the sparse description I would say you won't have to race the crowd getting to his door. Sometimes especially with older folks there is a sentimental attachment that they affix a dollar value to. Worth it to them but nobody else. Don't invest your life savings. Wayne

Those shocks with Ford script are probably repros as original shocks had no Ford script.

Fenders if no rust just some dents price is ok.
57 Bird....somebody will pay what he's asking.
Horn....too much.
Wheels and tires if there not pitted ....Could go for that on a good day. But they have to be nice!
Shocks....have to have arms and links and be in working order to bring 600.00
Frames In field if he has titles for each one and there usable price is right.
Model T sedan......7500
Pictures would help.

I should have taken some pictures but it was so cold. Also the prices from the beginning blew me away. I would have loved to have taken the T and 35 home with me for sure but the prices were out of line, I thought. The shocks were said to be new, whatever that means. All the arms where included. The T-Bird would have been fun but a lot of work to restore although it was all there. A real "running" when parked.

Depending on just how "restorable" the 57 Bird is, I find that price to be downright reasonable as a starting point. I am just into Y-blocks and I gotta tell you romping on that 292 is a little different than my Model A, but I digress....

As to Model A and T parts, lately in my area a couple of old guys passed away who had stashes of Model A parts. Most of the stuff was at best just rebuildable core material (although I got a good working Zenith for $10). The prices being asked were quite high for stuff that needed restoration. Just because it is old doesn't mean it is highly valuable. You gotta buy stuff right as you will need to put work and $$$ into restoring this stuff. Of course, we all know that, right?

Would that fender have to be from LATE 1930, to match up to a '31
