Default 12volt Conversion 45 Ford 1/2 Ton Pickup

Hi all,

I’m converting to a 12volt system from Vintage Auto Garage. I’m try to find out where some of you picked up Power of an electronic fuel pump and the voltage relay 12v to 6v. The directions say, “ connect to switched 12-volt power, such as ignition switch ACC or Ignition Terminal.

I was thinking of taking it from the ignition switch on the way to the coil.

Take the power from the circuit breaker battery terminal. Add a fuse to that power line to the relay. And I put the trigger wire on the gauges terminal of the ignition switch although I don’t think it matters which switched terminal you choose.

I found the late JSeery’s diagrams helpful. I don’t have his 12v diagram saved however. Search for his posts, and you’ll find it.

Thank you so much that make great sense. I’ll look for the diagrams.

I used his diagrams for my headlights and fuel pump. He made good diagrams. My pickup is 6v positive ground. I can’t find a fuel pump relay diagram for 12v from him, but here is his 12v headlight relay diagram. For 12v looks like he used a 15 amp fuse on 14 gauge wire.

Check out his info and diagrams in these posts:

And when Bob Dylan was playing only Christian songs in 1980, there’s a recording of him quoting your verse before one of his songs.

Use a separate switch for the Fuel Pump in case of an emergency. There are other safety measures but this is the easiest.

I’m adding a fuse block! I have another question from the vintage auto garage conversion kit. Now the relay for the headlights. Looks like the same relay for the horn. Am I supposed to wire the horn to the same relay as the headlights or was I supposed to get two relays? I only got one relay.

Also, the fuel pump is in fused and ready. Thank you all for the help.

Definitely separate relays for horn and headlights.

There is a good headlight wiring diagram in those posts I copied above from Jseery. And the headlights ideally would have one relay for the low beams and one relay for the high beams. Totaling 2 relays for the headlights.
