Throttle linkage help
Hello,
Going to start setting up the linkage on my4100 Autolite. Here are my questions. 1) The foot throttle comes through the firewall and does it hook up to the bell crank like the left circle? I have a double adjustable rod that is about 18" or so and not sure where it goes. I don't have any pics of how it hooks up on a car. 2) Dealing with the PCV valve and vacuum. I have a vacuum port on the carb for the dist. can I port the PCV valve into the manifold at the back or should I use my spacer that has a port built into it? When I got the engine the crankcase fumes were vented to the oil filler cap and the spacer under the carb. 3) I am not using the vacuum portion of the fuel pump so are they good to block off? 4) Does all of the linkage look correct you? Am I missing anything or does something need to be moved around? Thank you, Mike

Re: Throttle linkage help
I assume it's an automatic. It appears you are missing the TV rod for kickdown. should be another lever on the trans for the kickdown. Google "1957 ford carb linkage". there's an article from Y-blocks Forever showing '57 carb linkage pics.

Re: Throttle linkage help
Thank you that is what I needed were actual pics. I have the drawings in the manual. But I need to see what it looks like in real life. The TV rod is hooked to the tranny now just not the bell crank. But now I have something to work with at least.

Re: Throttle linkage help
The TV rod controls how and when the transmission shifts and engages. If it's not connected or adjusted correctly the car could be undriveable. The adjustment is fairly picky and can be done in half turn increments.

I have hooked up the linkage from the carb to the bell crank-someone correct me if this hooked up incorrectly. Also, is the the threaded portion hooked up correctly? I looked at DMSFRR's linkage and it seems to be 'bolted' to the bell crank where as I have a clip. The adjustable piece that goes from the throttle rod to the bell crank I think is broken. Can someone verify that I need a new one and where I might find one? Or is this something that I can get at Summit/McMaster Carr? Also, what are the little ball things called? I swear I asked here once before but can't find my post now. Thanks, Mike

Re: Throttle linkage help
That is fine as long as they work then you are good to go. I just have a bunch of cobbled together parts. So seeing what you have is a big step forward.
