I know guys have removed Mag magnets--but how do they fasten ring gear to flywheel without? No one has regular bolts for this with 1/4-24 threads. I have a 24 T

Re: T magnets
The repop vendors have brass machine screws for fastening the ring gear to the flywheel. They are 1/4 - 24 theads.

Re: T magnets
if it is an original ring gear, the thread is 14-24. If the size you have is the #14's, you can run a 1/4 24 tap through the holes and use that size. 1/4 24 should not be that hard to find.

Re: T magnets
Replacing the screws that hold the ring gear to the flywheel is not a job that should be done with flywheel in place on the crankshaft. Except for the Bendix notch on the one side, there is no clear access to the screw heads past the magneto coil ring, unless it is not installed. (?)
This job needs to be done on the bench so magnet height can be set and ends of brass screws peened to lock them in place. That peening could put a lot of force on one spot, which could knock things around a bit with the flywheel still in the engine. The current screws that are installed, the end of the brass screw where it sticks through the flywheel, has to be removed so it can be unscrewed. Normally they would be chiseled off which could put brass chips into the engine. https://www.modeltford.com/pl.aspx?t...0screws&page=1 I suggest you get a copy of this; https://www.modeltford.com/item/T1.aspx
