It really depends on the type of crack it is. If it is something that can progress, it needs to be drilled and plugged to stop it from getting worse.

It was and is still a old remedy for cracked blocks . Use liquid sodium silicate or called water glass. Just add to the coolant system and drive the car. Have seen it used before and was amazed how well it works. The new GM motor coolant has sodium silicate in it.

Yeah, isn't that easier said than done?

Many (not all) cracks can be repaired, good replacement blocks are exceedingly rare.

Liquid repairs may help with small stuff.

All depends on the type of crack(s) and the location(s). A high number of block have cracks and they are of very little concern, but some cracks require repair and some are beyond repair.

I've had excellent results with this product. Clean the cooling system with their flush product. Follow the directions on these products - no short cuts.

If the crack is towards the valve seat then it may allow seat to come loose. That type of crack has to be repaired properly.

Hey Mike,
I'm praying that you're last sentence is true, in my case !
I'm not going to go over the details minutia here about this '32 B banger block. I posted on model a section and discussion was held. See that if interested in detail.
Several knowledgeable buds / builders said that SS (liquid glass) can ruin an engine if it gets where is aint supposed to be. You probably remember some gov brainac program whereby newer veh/engines were destroyed wholesale. Yeah that was via SS(sodium silicate). The cracks were caused by the shop that handled the block. The cracks are in the areas where the large valves/cam draws water (and SS if added) into cylinders...not good, e h. Thanks for all suggestions/help.

Oh, BTW...I CAN use a good crack free B block if you have one. Need one to put an OHV Schofield Head setup on

Yeah, it's a tad spendy but it's the only product that I have found to work. Get healthy soon and lets us know how it worked for you....

Well, you made my day....I'm happy it worked out for you....

I like that the K-Seal is simple to use. You just Shake, Pour & Go. No need to drain or flush the system. No need to worry about what type of antifreeze or coolant is in the cooling system. It couldn’t be easier!
