Default early ford radial tire sizes

Well i am trying to be cheap and get my employee discount on regular radial modern tires to mount on seperate wheels for ride quality.. What sizes would you goes run to have the somewhat stock appearance from a distance?? first is a 35 ford with currently stock 600-16 tires and i have a 51 3/4 ton with 700-17 tires. any one else running modern tires?? I am trying to avoid the expense of coker and black diamond tires.. Thanks always

The original bias ply tires were usually the equivalent of an "83" series (aspect ratio) in a radial. I haven't seen on of those for years. The next best bet, and generally still available, is a "75" series. These types were tall and skinny like the bias tires. The more modern, and more popular, "70" series ( along with there "60", "65", & "50" bretheren) are wider and squattier (word ?). Coker's catalog will give you quick references for O.A. diameter and width for both older bias ply sizes and the newer radials. I just put some 265-75 X 15 on the back of my pickup and they are about the same overall height/diameter as a 7.00 X 16 bias ply.
