Default 36 Ford Roadster Side Curtains

I would like to have some side curtains made for 1936 Roadster. Unfortunately LeBaron Bonney is gone along with the patterns. My upholsterer has told me that he could make the side curtains with some good pictures of both sides of a set of roadster curtains. I’m requesting if someone could post some pictures of side curtains for a 35 and or a 36 Ford Roadster.

Thank you in advance!

Macs did the side curtains for my 34 roadster.

'35 and '36 roadster (and phaeton) side curtains are different because of the differences in the wind wing brackets.

Mostly true, except as a running change late '35 phaetons and roadsters had the same windshield posts and wind wings as the '36s. (All of the various parts involved have 48-prefix part numbers, not 68-prefix part numbers.)

Thanks for the info on that David.
I never seen or read that anywhere before.

To expand upon what Dave said, it appears that the change in roadster/phaeton windshield posts began as early as April/May of 1935. Here's a photo comparison.

I once had two late '35 phaetons with the late posts and wind wings and that's what brought the change to my attention. One of the two bodies also had the typical '36 stamped-in X on the sides of the cowl underneath the hood side panels.

Thanks for the photo, Don.

Sorry, I've no photos for you, but if you don't come up with some there is always the alternative of obtaining copies of the original engineering drawings from the Benson Ford Research Center in Dearborn. You will need the part numbers of the three components that make up a set for one side (the other side will be a mirror image except for an access hole through the door curtain to permit hand signals).

I know it's not a profitable business, making upholstery kits for antique Ford's, but I wish someone would pick up where LeBaron Bonney stopped. I for one miss them.

See below link to Macs 1936 roadster listing for side curtains. Available in Black and Tan.

https://www.macsautoparts.com/ford_m...ins+&x=25&y=12

The ones they did for my roadster were nice with original style fasteners.

Dave,

I responded to your email. I’m looking for pictures of both sides on the side curtains, the windshield post attachments and the storage bag for the side curtains and curtain rods.

Thanks!

Good information. Unfortunately MAC’s does not use the same color match material that Im using so it won’t match my top material.

Thank for the information.

According to the latest issue of "The V8 Times", Dave's curtains are the early '35 version. For your '36 be mindful that the attachment at the windshield post will be different than Dave's, especially at the top where the '36 version attaches to the upper corners of the windshield frame.

Hi Tony,
Check your email for detailed photos of all the components (including side curtains themselves). Also there are 2 photos of the side curtains installed on my car and the bag plus dimensions.
