'38-'39 Marmon Herrington pickup?

have known about this truck for a little while. finally was able to get a peek at it this morning. the owner wasnt around and the guy that showed me only had a minute. he didnt know what year it was. said '40. I'm going with '38 or '39.
A couple questions. how rare is this truck? any idea how many of them were made? was this a factory installation or were they shipped out for conversion?
i will be able to get a better look and pics of this truck in the future. probably spring.. pretty exciting. this truck has been completely restored.

Looks like a 37 to me.

It's definitely a '37. The hood side V8 emblems have been replaced with MH ones. Beautiful truck!!

The truck looks to be a 1937. There are two others (unless this is one of them) known to have survived. The lilac colored one is itself located in Maine, the other is in Don Chew's collection in CO. The person who will know the most about them is Chuck Mantiglia of CT.

The lilac truck is the one in my pics. The lilac pic was from 1987 before the truck was restored and certified by Ford. The owner still has the original blueprints for the truck.

To my knowledge, Ford does neither.

Thought those looked familiar, Don has so many MH trucks he would have to live to 200 to get them all done. I like visiting though, when we are out in his area it is always fun to see what he is working on and learn a bit more. Lot of guys like that here in Colorado.

Sorry. Was quoting a post by the owner of the truck. The owner restored the truck. And Ford "Authenticated" it. The owner has been a Ford dealer for a long time.

Anyone want to venture a guess what this would sell for at auction?
Sad thing is this truck is sitting in a storage garage where no one can enjoy it. Garage is good and dry. No cover on truck though. Truck was on display in the dealership for awhile. Stupid 66 Tbird in there now...
I've never seen this truck driven around and its 2 minutes from my house. Guess I would be pretty paranoid to drive it.. I didn't look at the odometer but am told it has around 3000 original miles on it.
I knew this truck had to be rare, but 1of only 2 (known) in the country is crazy rare.

CSArno,I looked at that truck 20 years ago,it's a 37. Prouty Ford in DoverFoxcroft,Maine has had it for years.Yes it is rare,but not popular,and not a truck you could cruise with, do to the gearing.The truck would be great for a museum.Being rare also does not make it valuable,if you look at cars & trucks in the Ford line,that are sort after,and draw the money,they were popular.This is only my opinion.Ed

I have another 1937 MH pickup. It worked hard on a Colorado mountain cattle ranch. Truck is complete, as found, needs work, engine turns. I got it for parts to fix my 1941 Marmon Herrington.

I got $5000 for a complete, beat up, '51 F-3 MH with no bed a few years ago. Go figure?

Was yours the aqua colored one on the Desert Classics web site for a long time? You're right that it was a pos, but if you have contact info on it I'd like to keep track of it. I have an archive of all the F-2/F-3 M-Hs I've come across but missed on that one. I called the dealer but got no cooperation on vin, axle number, etc. Can't imagine you got that much for it. I've got complete, or what's left of, five 3/4 ton M-Hs and paid low of $500 and most $2000. Stu
