Rear Axle shaft made in Argentina?
Been searching for one rear axle shaft for my 34 pickup but not having any luck. I do have a new “aftermarket” one from my dads parts but it appears to be made in Argentina according to the stampings on it that state “industria Argentina” and “267875”. It is the right length and has the correct number of teeth but it will not slide or seat completely into the ring gear or spider gear housing. It is about .010” too big. Also the key way is about 1/2” longer than my original axle.
Can I use this axle if I get a machine shop to machine down the axle “collar” to fit the ring gear or spider gear opening? Last edited by drfromnc; 08-12-2022 at 12:20 PM. Reason: Add another pic |

Re: Rear Axle shaft made in Argentina?
Perhaps parts made in Argentina are "metric".
Seems reasonable to assume you could turn it down to proper dia. |

Call All Ford Parts in Campbell CA, they have good used as well as NOS axles.

Re: Rear Axle shaft made in Argentina?
As well as All Ford Parts, I'd call Fred @ Southside Obsolete. That's where I got my NOS axles from.
Since good used or NOS are still available, I would not use the one you have. Taking a rear out and part once in a vehicle is no easy task. Why take chances with inferior parts? |

Re: Rear Axle shaft made in Argentina?
Most stuff that came out of Argentina was junk. Frankly I wouldn't use it.

Re: Rear Axle shaft made in Argentina?
Thanks for all the input. Really just wanted confirmation not to use it. I called All Ford Parts and used or NOS too rich for me. I’ll keep searching for a good local find for an axle or complete rear to get parts from.

Ah…yes I have contacted barnfind08 too. Didn’t realize that was Fred. More affordable prices and he may be my last resort.
