I have owned my 57 Skyliner for 3 years and have averaged around 1200 miles per year just driving around locally. The car is stored for about 5 months during the winter so we get to drive it most in the summer months.

Here we can drive them about 7 months also . I am guessing 1000-1500 miles per year.

GeneF - Here in Mississippi we can (and do) drive year 'round; however, since I have six antiques, two ranch trucks, and four "daily drivers" - I only average 500-600 miles on any given vehicle. Added a couple thousand in the years I took the Truckstang on the Hot Rod Power Tour ..... But that was an anomaly.

How much do we get to drive them? Assuming someone would think my car is a "collector" car, I can drive it year round and put limitless miles on it. It sits outside year round, get rained on, hailed on, ice/snow, whatever, and anytime I want to go somewhere, I use the car unless I need to haul something big, then I use my 2007 F150 pickup truck which currently only has 55K miles on it. The truck mostly sits. I also have a '55 Courier sedan delivery wagon, but I quit driving it a couple years ago due to license plate fees jumping up to $151.00/year. I quit renewing license plates and also cancelled insurance on it. Both '55's were "body-off-frame" restored at one time, but I used them as daily drivers. They're mine, I built both of them and I can do what I want with 'em if it's still a free country.
Been retired since beginning of 2016, so I'm not putting 60 miles a day on the car anymore, and I rarely even leave town, so I don't put much mileage on it. I expect it will last till end of my life.

DSC00116.jpgWould it still be considered a "collector" car if I have owned it since 1960 and drive it regularly? I did an off-frame restoration about 5 years ago and went thru everything. Don't drive it as much now due to old age and too many other cars to drive. As near as I can figure, car has close to 300,000 miles on it.

Beautiful Crown Victoria!

When i first got my crown in 2017 I was putting close to 4,000 a year on it. Last couple of years due to some bigger fixes (like tranny rebuild) I don't have it for as many good weather days, so its probably dropped to 1-2,000 a year lately. That being said, I have no problem using it as my daily, sans rain of course.

Thanks for enlarging the picture. I was still in high school when I first drove this car. My sister owned it then and I bought it from her when I graduated. Got married with this, took honeymoon in it, brought my first son home from the hospital in this. Car has a lot of memories. I am now 80 years old and it is still my favorite car. The picture was taken at the Tulsa, OK airport when I was picking up my son after his last tour in Iraq.

Love those storys like that. I restored my 1028 A-Model, in time to drive to my wedding in 1995. My Skyliner (above) is great, and quite unique. However, out of all the collector cars we have I prefer the A to them all.

Mine has been driven 13,000 miles coming up on 5 years. An average of 2600 miles a year. Some years less due to some injuries I battle. But I try to drive it all year providing it is dry out and the salt is washed off the roads.
