Need Where cowl bolts onto 31 A frame
I have been all over the old posts looking for the placement of the cowl to the frame. I am building a Boat tail speedster so I have a big pile of parts and a willing Heart. Please help a barner who has lost his way! Thank you for your time. Don in soggy Indiana

Thanks Bob that was very handy. again you are on the job helping a Rooky out. I just wish I had a better cowl to start with, but I would feel bad about cutting up a nice body to build a Boat tail Speedster. All I have is 31 cowl and a dream Thanks again Bob Don in soggy bottoms Indiana

Re: Need Where cowl bolts onto 31 A frame
Which frame?
Before sept 1930 the 2/3 holes lined up with the straight window cowls. After then they brought into production the frame that is compatible with slant window bodies. These frames will have the 2/3 holes moved rear ward by one bolt. So striaght window cowls only would have a bolt go in the now 2 position which is where the 3 position used to be. Don't worry. You just need to get the front hole in the #1 mount point. In any event, consult the JS and Restoration Handbook for the chart of bolt positions. |
