Default 1933-34 Potter Trunk Question

I am attempting to finally mount the trunk to the car, and have a question. Does the trunk actually rest on the skirt, or is it raised up from the skirt? My spare tire mount seems to be causing a problem with clearance as well with the trunk opening. I will have to shim it a bit to raise the trunk.

I too have a Potter trunk on my 34 Phaeton. About 40 years ago I copied a bumper extension and spare tire extension. Finally, 40 years later I got an original bumper extension. I never did find the sheet metal skirt that goes under the trunk. If you want I'll take a picture of the bumper extension for you. Let me know.

All resolved. Thanks for the offer. The trunk sits above the skirt just slightly. The skirt is nothing fancy. Just thin sheet metal formed around the bumper extension.

You wouldn't happen to have extra hinges and latches for a 34 potter trunk would you???

No sorry, those are the tough find for Potter trunks. Best chance is to find a set that were made back in the 80's. Maybe someone has a set sitting on a shelf some where.
