29' RPU top bows question
The inner filler in my bow is deteriorated to the point it will not work out as I redo my top. What material should be put into the metal channel so it can accept the upholstery nails? It looks like it originally was a tar like substance.

Re: 29' RPU top bows question
I asked the same question a while back on the old Fordbarn site and didn't get many suggestions there either. It seems like it must be a fairly common problem and there should be a good modern day solution. I recall reading somewhere that the original material was leather or rawhide, but have no idea if there's anything to this. Does anyone know what's used on the repro bows these days?
