Locate part
Need some assistance, guys. trying to locate a crankshaft pulley/balancer for a 1955 ford Y block 239, EBV. The one that I have now is a 3 groove, but not using but 2 grooves. Using fan and alternator. No power steering or A/C. Can use either, 2, or, 3 groove. A good used one, or, new one, not a problem, as long as it is in good shape. Mine is completely worn out. Can't seem to locate one, myself. Thanks, in advance for your help.

Re: Locate part
Yours can be rebuilt (I hope). Try Damper Dudes

Re: Locate part
Can an automotive machine shop rebuild it? If not, please make a recommendation.

A groove where the seal in the timing cover rides on it? Does it have a failed rubber layer between the hub and damper weight ring? Or... is it suffering from excessive belt wear to the insides of the pulleys? New reproduction pulleys may be available. (I've not looked for one & not sure where) A speedi-sleeve can be put on the hub if it's worn from the seal. New rubber material can be formed into the gap for the weight ring. Two rebuilder links... https://damperdoctor.com/ https://www.damperdudes.net/harmonic-balancers/ford/ |

Re: Locate part
The belt grooves are worn and the pulley rims have worn to a sharp edge. everything else looks good. I will check out these links and see what they say. Certainly appreciate the advice.

There are a least a few places that sell old original (and also reproduction) parts. I'm sure I don't know the best ones for the pulley you need or even more than a couple of the places, but they're somewhere to start... Call during business hours and tell them what you're looking for. If they don't have what you need ask if they know who might, and call them too. https://shoebox-central.com/52-53-ford-parts https://cgfordparts.com/ https://www.ebay.com/usr/stilwellsobsolete or http://www.usedautopartsdealers.com/..._car_parts.php If you don't mind buying parts on ebay you can search there too. |

Re: Locate part
The basic original crankshaft dampers for Ford full-size cars with y-block all had a single pulley. In cars that had power steering, a bolt-on pulley was added to the crankshaft damper. Originally, a single V-belt drove the generator and water pump off the crankshaft pulley.
If you can find an original 239 crankshaft damper with the add-on pulley, that might work for ya. |
