Default Stock 40 Coupe

Hi gents

Stock except electric fuel pump

Took car out today for spin. Fully warmed up on a cold New England day.

I’ve owned this car for a long time. So I pretty much know what to expect with the car.

Unless I maintain good peddle, I find the car to be shaking. Much like if your in third gear when you really should be in second.

Any ideas?

define shaking another way
is it like the feeling of gas starvation? check fuel pressure and flow-could be a collapsing gas hose
a vibration thru out the car? look for something loose-motor mounts/trans mount
trans stick shaking? grease the ball joint trans/torque tube
engine miss?--bad plug wires, cracked cap, coil grounding out, bad spark plugs, distributor needs rebuild
or????

Try pulling out on the choke to see if it picks up. If I understand your post correctly, it runs ok as long as your pressing on the gas peddle.

Ken thats correct. It feels like, if u were in the wrong gear. ie: in third and should be in second shake - in a higher gear that what the car calls for kind of shake.

I'll do choke but if it corrects it your thinking carb issue?

You may have a vacuum leak some where. Check the wiper hose, line to helmet and make sure intake manifold is tight.

I would be shaking if I was in New England today myself. Right now
I am on the MSC Meraviglia just off the coast of Havana Cuba. Weather
is clear and I see an oil tanker off the port side about 10 miles away. Water
is clean looking dark blue 6,000 feet deep, outside temp is 77. The ship
carries over 4,000 people and engine has 51,000 horse power and travels
at 17 knots. I never feel much motion and no side to side rocking. Looks
like the sweels or waves are about 4 feet. We traveled over 650 miles and
a little over 100 to go. Pull into Miami at 5:30 A.M. tomorrow. I had a great
time. Cost was a little less than $500.00 Which included food and tips.
I don't drink much so my package didn't include drinks. I think there are
better deals if you shop around. I may go again in Feb. G.M.
