I have 4 pair of axle housings to sort thru. I need 1 pair.

i would just look for the best bearing surface, and a good diameter would be the ones that measure to be round, or as close to it as possible. they wear on the bottom, and thats pretty forgiving so long as the bearing surface is nice

The 35-36 housings are often turned over to get better bearing surfaces.

Yes its the only(35,36) years that you can swap them from side to side.

The predominant side for wear is the underside of the housing. So if you have a little wear on one side, you can swap the housings to put the worn part on the top side. You don't normally get wear as such, what normally happens is a spalling of the surface.
