Re: Steering box ID
Other that looking at the part of the car that it is installed in what are you looking at to say it is not a '32? To the best of my knowledge the difference is in the clocking of the bolt pattern on the sector housing where it attaches to the frame which cannot be seen in the photo.

Re: Steering box ID
The flanges are clocked different. The 32 has an ear that sticks up. The 33-34 sticks down and gives more room to move the box higher. It looks to me to be high in the frame.

Re: Steering box ID
It's IN MY 33 OLD SCHOOL semi hot rod. The exhaust manifold is right against it. I'm thinking to change it. I put a F-1 box in my 31 coupe, does any one know how I could get more clearance. I'm positive the inside must be well cooked. on this one.

Re: Steering box ID
The housings are steel and a new flange can be put on. The flange can be positioned so you have more room. I used an F100 so the shaft was on top.
I made a weld jig using the stock box so the flange was angled and clocked right. The F100 box went in with all the bolts fitting the original holes. There is a build thread on the HAMB. |

Re: Steering box ID
Looks to be about a 1 inch clearance between my steering box (pictured above) and the exhaust manifold....
