Question 32 winterfront

What were the factory color or colors of the winterfront vertical bars ? Anybody know. Were any painted body colors? I guess dealers painted them at buyers request.

Based on surviving used and NOS examples of the Ford-released version, the louvers were painted the same color as the passenger car grill bars, namely gull gray. A photo in a period advertisement for the version sold by Pines directly to dealers and not through Ford show the louvers in a dark color, likely black. And as you indicate, the dealers would respond to other color requests made by their customers.

The Nevada-plated car is Doug Clem's, a friend of the Meyer's family.

Added and done correctly, formerly Ken Tibbot's 1932 Ford Drauz with the slats painted to match the fenders and accent stripe!!! Which is as posted above done as the "non" dealer purchased grill with the "Pines" emblem as the crank whole cover!!!

I probably won't be popular for saying it but took the Pines off of mine as preferred a stock insert. Same with the 25 louver hood sides, swapped back for 20s.

ps reading this great thread, I got the colour wrong too!

Keith, I'm with, I think they are ugly.....But each to his own!!! The only reason I'd buy one would be to trade it!!!

Keith,

My sentiments exactly, on both the winterfront and hood. Robert's correct about them making good trading material.

I recall Berg had a NOS one in the box @ Hershey many years ago $1,000. If I only knew then...

As of late, 25 louver hoods, E&J's headlights, and Pine's winterfronts seems to have become a bit of a one's upsmanship on Hot Rods

That is a Winter Shop Front, not a Winter Front? Nice 1933 Ford Tudor Sedan, however, I do spot that 1932 Ford Winter Front Grille on display in the centre of the picture.

Pines grilles with 25 louver hoods on open top cars are really baffling, but seem to be a popular combination for some odd reason.
