Default -40

"Comrade, I've told you before, don't use kerosene when it's -40 !"

If it was truly -40 he'd have his ear flaps down.

Back in the 1950s I knew an old timer that used kerosene (coal oil as we called it) in the cooling system instead of anti-freeze.

Gotta love the anti-tank gun mounted on those wire wheels...

True - those hats are great though. Way warmer than the ol stocking cap.

In the 1940's my buddy had a 1929 Tudor and little cash. In the winter he drew kerosene from his parents 55 gallon barrel and filled his radiator. All was well for a few weeks and he gloated over the money he saved from not buying anti freeze. Things came to a head when his upper radiator hose rotted from the inside and burst. A fire resulted. His wiring burned up, the heat of the fire ruined the paint of the hood, but fortunately the engine ran OK after rewiring.

He better think about getting it into play if he survives this pass by those Stukas...

Not true, he's Russian don't forget. Would need to be -50 for those flaps to come down.

Plus the Soviet papirosa he's smoking must also help in keeping warm.

ha! Not sure I agree though. We get -40 sometimes and even a Russian`s ears would freeze! Ugh, not looking forward to it.
