Default Water Pump Lube/Rust Protection

I've been using distilled water and soluable oil in my radiator and engine since rebuild. (New radiator and engine rebuild 5000 miles ago).
Now I understand that soluable oil ain't necessarily the way to go! (water jackets get "oily")
I'd like try this Zerex product with distilled water. No need of Antifreeze here in San Diego.
Any comments/criticisms, alternative or better ideas??
All is appreciated; Thanks Jeff

Its a babbit engine and I don't want antifreeze in this motor.

I just bought a new radiator from Gery Berg, Berg's Radiator.
He said to run distilled water and add in an anti rust solution, he suggest Macs 1300 from Napa

I believe water wetter may also have some pump lube. I was advised to use 14 oz. of Macs 1300 Rust Inhibitor and a bottle of Water Wetter. Water Wetter is sold by on line, both are available through Napa, but depending on the store may have to be ordered, usually a day wait.

I have had a Babbitt cap in antifreeze for over 30 years, it still looks new----

Water is preferred for operation in hot temps - water transfers heat from the motor into the water coolant best, better than antifreeze. Antifreeze raising the boiling point some, but typically runs hotter since it does not transfer/pull heat from the motor as good as water

Water wetter in cooling systems in good shape can reduce coolant temps by 5- 10 degrees, adds some pump lube, and using MACs 1300 provides rust protection.

True - A part soaking in antifreeze may not degrade. If enough anti freeze or water is in the oil, the oil will lose its ability to lubricate while running, things go boom.

Cooling system info.

Goggle “Rocky Mountain Model A Club Cooling System Presentation”. It will give you all the information needed to understand how the cooling system works.

Has some really good info comparing water and Antifreeze.

Many of the additives conaining soluble oil don't mention that the oil attcks the hoses. After a while, they will go soft and bulge. I suggest whatever you use, verify that it won't attack the hoses and that it provides lubrication.

My fathers Model A sat for 15 years with soluble oil & water. The hoses were just fine. Radiator shop said it's a waste of my money to do anything with the radiator because it's clean as a whistle.

Obviously an oil compatable with the hose material!
I'd still use something in the water to prevent corrosion
