Default Broken rear stud

I pulled my head from a stock 1931 Sport Coupe yesterday (blown head gasket). In trying to be careful I broke the very rear stud off. Is there a way to drill this out or do I end up pulling my engine to do it?
Thanks, Phil

Bratton's Lists the following:

This is a high quality set consisting of 10 pieces that are needed to drill out a broken head stud. Using the 2-locator plates allows you to accurately locate the drilling fixture over the stud that is broken off. Designed by a mechanical engineer for use on his car. Kit includes detailed & illustrated instructions. This kit contains the drill bit, tap and bushings for the standard thread studs.

The rear stud may be hard to drill because of alignment? We used to regularly have broken studs on Chevy V8 intake manifolds because of the exh. passage to heat the carb. Our solution was to gas-weld a "knob" on the top of the broken stud, then grasp the knob with vice grips and the stud came right out. Should work in your case too, just shield the firewall to protect the paint.

Agreed 100% If you do not have a gas welding set up, check your phone book for local welding business's. Soak the remains of the stud with rust buster solution for several days before welding and yes , shield and protect the firewall from the heat.

----see post #2 -----I have been the go-to guy at work for broke bolts, and not break bolts, once I used the tig weld a washer to broke piece---pop it out, if t doesn't come out first time it does the second, it works so good that now t's easier to break them off instead of taking the time for repeated heating, trying, trying but not breaking it off ----

the position of rear stud makes it hard to drill, it's hard to keep a right angle drill or adapter ,and shortened drill exactly straight----and it will be harder to helicoil or thread insert if drilling gets screwed up ---using 'vinces method" leaves the original threads good

even if you have to tow it to get it done
