Default 29 CC Pickup, loose hinge pin fix wanted.

Having replaced the pins I find that on a couple of hinges, the splines are not holding in the top of the hinge due to the holes being worn.
Is there an easy barn yard 'back in the day' type fix to hold them in place or will i have to braze up the holes and re drill them back out to the correct size?.
All help and advice will be gratefully received.

If you want a barn yard fix, just squash the knurled part of the pin out of round a bit

How about some JB weld on the pin before installing it? Or just add some brass to the pin rather than the hole.

Not a "backyard" fix but the Model A parts houses sell oversize pins

Since I have never used this kit myself, I would suggest that you contact the seller: [email protected]. 408-722-2518. Dave is a very personable guy and an excellent machinists.

Default Re: 29 CC Pickup, loose hinge pin fix wanted.PINS are 0.243 NOT 0.250!!

I have posted this before.

For what it is worth here is a problem I had when removing pins to install mirrors.

I tried without success to remove the first pin ... it just would not budge. I did succeed in damaging the hole in hinge.

Then I bought one of the pin removal tools and the pin came right out "as slick as butter".

What I found out was that the original pins on the coupe measure 15/64ths or 0.243 and over size pins from vendors are 0.250.

I was using a 1/4 inch (0.250) drift to try and knock out the pin ... 0.017 too large, which was the reason I had so much problem with driving out the pin.

Note the pins, of 3 different lengths, that came with the pin removal tool are 0.243 not 0.250!

I never did find a drift of size 0.243!!

NOTE: As I remember certain models use different diameter pins.
