Default Trunk or Rumble seat?

Looking at a 1931 coupe and it looks like it had a rumbleseat but is now a trunk. How much work is it to put right?? That is the $64.00 question.
I would appreciate any and all help. I want the rumbleseat as it was but if too much work might pass on this one.

THanks

If I wanted to change my rumble to a trunk, I would try to find someone who wants a trunk and will trade all the parts. That way you will know that everything will fit. They get a trunk and you get a rumble, win - win for both of you. Good luck, Bill

It is lots of work. You have to install the hinges, weld up the handle hole and drill another one. I think the sheet metal floor is different and probably more. I vote to leave as is.

Mac's, Snyder's etc. have rumble conversion kits. You could put a chrome plug in the trunk handle hole and try it out avoiding body work. I found the hassle is the lid alignment. If you have a slanted floor next to the sill that's where your seat fits. Question would be, how much would you use it if you had it?

It is nice to have the seat, the deck lid should have all the notches for the latch in it if they weren't welded up. If they weren't then my guess is that you've got it made. Just a simple swap of hardware. If they were, then I'd say you'd need someone with welding knowledge to do all the fab work. Don't forget, you'll also need the seat and backrest. But Bill in So Cal has the right idea. Find someone who is willing to swap and like my brother in law say's, "forget about it".
