The ABSOLUTE CURE for all ignition problems.....
I'm posting this with a smile on my face....here's the sure cure for what ails ya be it condenser. points or electronic gizmo box. In my REO truck replica I installed a nice 3 cylinder Kubota diesel, no wires, no points, condenser, etc. Ha Now the discussion can shift to the merits or shortcomings of diesel vs gas ''A''or''T'' propulsion.... Gary

That is a GREAT solution. Being a diesel fan, I am putting a 2.4L mercedes diesel in my 31 DD. It fits better than OJ's glove.

Yeah, but what will the exhaust note sound like? Some things just can't be improved, ya know!
Another upside to the diesel is that you can burn waste vegetable oil too. |

Re: The ABSOLUTE CURE for all ignition problems.....
In my case, the exhaust note will be perfect (IMO). Also, more range (better fuel economy) and safer having diesel sitting over my lap rather than gas. When we were in cuba, we hired a taxi that was a 1950 chevy sedan with a diesel. It was a Hyundai (IIRC) with a "5 on the tree". The guy told me they buy them new (motor/trans) over the counter and IIRC said they are about $4000USD.

No more future for diesel car-engines. They will be banned all over the world. The sooner, the better.

A person can do whatever they want with their car . I just don't understand the fascination with diesel . Diesel is more expensive, it stinks, if you get it on you it is difficult to remove the smell. Diesel engines are more expensive to repair . Diesel engines use to last longer but nowdays gas engines last just as long in some cases .

Yeah, but they can't put ethanol in diesel. I think. Maybe. |

Re: The ABSOLUTE CURE for all ignition problems.....
Good thought . Thank goodness that we have a station here that offers real gas ,so far . In some cases you really don't know what you are getting untill its too late .

Re: The ABSOLUTE CURE for all ignition problems.....
The sound of the 3 cylinder Kubota clattering brought a wide smile to everyone's face for 2 days at a show/fair last summer, in fact every where I've shown it. Everyone's face. That's the reason I put a diesel in it. It sounds right for a 1910 era vehicle. Sorry for the shaking I have a terrible tremor in my right arm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqGSEy4f_KY

Re: The ABSOLUTE CURE for all ignition problems.....
Jw it has a Series 40 Variable ratio drive clutch, good for up to 18hp powerplants. It will go from 0 to 30 mph, no shifting needed, the pulley diameter changes with the engine speed. I built a jackshaft assembly that converts the drive from belt to chain drive. The rear axle is homemade housing, no differential and with Model T axle shafts with Ford Escort rear drum brakes. Single wheel drive by chain. Here's a good video showing the bare chassis being test run. Thanks for asking. Garyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7fcM5r7JfE

Re: The ABSOLUTE CURE for all ignition problems.....
So, if I read this right, "The ABSOLUTE CURE" is to not get a Model A, because there are newer and better systems out there. Should this post be moved to the Anti-A forum?

Re: The ABSOLUTE CURE for all ignition problems.....
NO WAY this is anti-A. It was posted tongue-in-cheek to try to get everyone to not snipe too much about the ignition questions. Nothing more meant. Posted with a smile.... Gary
