Re: Carburetor identify
Left is a Tillotson, Right is a Marvel/Allstate.

Re: Carburetor identify
Thanks...both look pretty good...is one considered better. And which would it pay to have rebuilt?

Re: Carburetor identify
I have not used a Tilly, the Marvel I loved when I could get it to run.

Re: Carburetor identify
I like the marvel. You may not need to rebuild it. Bolt it on and run it.you may have one in good shape. the fuel line is different for the marvel then the zenieth. The lenght of the carb is shorter so the stock line wont line up. To try different carbs i made a fuel line by cutting the middle section out of an old line and added rubber fuel line . This lets me swap carbs out to test different ones. And not worry about if the lines match up to the carbs.

Re: Carburetor identify
As long as the Tillotson is not warped[which can usually be fixed] then both are good carburetors. The Marvel I think tends to run better though. Both are simple and easy to clean/rebuild.

Re: Carburetor identify
A group of us in the local club here all run the Marvel and like them. They seem to give a tad more high end performance, running better at 50-60 mph.

I didn't have any problem with it lining up with the fuel line, but my Marvel takes a different size (smaller) coupling between the carb and the fuel line. I had one all made up so I could use the Marvel/Schebler once in awhile, but danged if I can find it now. |

Re: Carburetor identify
On my line I just bent it between which carb I was using. but I also have a spare line just incase It develops a crack. Renners has the fitting that goes into the Marvel that is a special size.
