Default C.C.P.U. Floor Pan # Question

Hello Fellow Ford Barn members, In looking at the floor pan in my P.U. I noticed these numbers and letters. SFAA4056. Does the SF stand for San Francisco, Calif ? Does the AA stand for Truck ? and what does 4056 stand for ?? My truck is a 29 C.C.P.U. Thank you in advance for all your help.

Spokes,
I believe the San Francisco assembly plant used the SF and SFA stamping on the body crossmember in front of the seat on model A's to mark the number of bodies of a particular body style. This number is NOT used for the vehicle identification. It was just a Ford number for their use. I have never heard of SFAA, but 4056 should be the number of CCPU's assembled to the date yours was made. The AA might be for an AA truck, but I doubt it, since the cab is on a pickup. Maybe other Fordbarners will add more information.

Rusty is very close. My cab's cross sill has SFAA 2157 and I've seen SFAA 131.
I wanted the "131".....had the money in my hand, but the guy thought he could
more money for it as scrap!...

The number, I believe, is for the number of "commercials or light commercials"
manufactured too the date of your truck. Check Pluck's sight for information
like that............................ www.plucks329s.org Steve Plucker..........

Hi I have a 31 flat firewall CCPU, with a round speedo. The cab number is SFAA 5374. The chassis number is A4362929, meaning motor was built Feb 1931.
Yes, SFA and SFAA mean the vehicle was made in San Francisco. Plant was closed later in 1931 and replaced by the Richmond CA plant (across the bay) which opened in August 1931
My Slant Town Sedan was built there.
