Larz Andersen in Boston and the Stephen Paine Collection in Maine are MUST SEE collections, along with Owls Head. Log onto The Old Motor website, they post many old photos from the Paine collection.

Re: Antique car museums in New England area
Don,
If you look at the link in my signature on the main page is a list of museums with old Fords. This was a list started by some of the guys over on the Model T forum, and I added to it as did some of the folks here on Fordbarn. The list is by no means complete, so if you run across one I don't have listed, let me know and I'll add it. |

Don, You will not be disapointed if You Go to The Owls Head Transportation Museum. They have car shows every other weekend and have old planes they fly regularly.
I believe the site is OHTM.org |

Re: Antique car museums in New England area
I would also recommend the Saratoga Auto Museum. There is some kind of show every weekend plus the exhibits inside.
The other recommendations for Owls Head and Boothbay I would like to second. |

Both Owls Head and Seal Cove (Paine collection) are enjoyable museums to visit. I enjoyed both. They both have websites for more information.

We're making a similar trip (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Finger Lakes, NY) the first two weeks of August with the "A", taking in Owls Head Museum in Maine and the Vermont Auto Enthusiast's Car Show, in Stowe, Vermont. Would be great to run into you again, if the timing worked out. |

I would also put the Cole Museum of Transportation in Bangor, ME on the list, it's a fabulous museum, The Stanley (Steamer) Museum in Kingfield, ME and the Wells Auto Museum in Wells, ME are also a nice takes.

Re: Antique car museums in New England area
My wife says if you visit the Owls Head Trans. Mus., to also visit the Model A junk yard 1/4 mile away, and come when I am not here and you can own it real cheap.

Re: Antique car museums in New England area
Living In S. Maine for 16 years and New England all my life I think the "crowd" has mentioned all the museums. I've been to all but Seal Cove which is heavy into the brass era cars. Definately the Owls Head Museum, fantastic. Make sure you have breakfast at Moody's Diner near Owls Head. BTW the Pine Tree As (MAFCA chapter)here in Maine are sponsoring the 2012 New England Model A show at Point Lookout. Our tour venue will be Owls Head Museum. If you run into any problems in Maine I'll be glad to assist. 207-590-0180 David White in Kennebunk.
Have a blast. Will you be driving your A from GA? |
