Lincoln 337 vs 8BA flywheel
Are they even close? Have a buddy that needs the Lincoln and trying to help.
Many thanks.

Re: Lincoln 337 vs 8BA flywheel
Lincoln/Mercury shop manual says not interchangeable with Mercury (same as 8BA)

Re: Lincoln 337 vs 8BA flywheel
The Lincoln cars in the 337 era used a Long type 11-inch clutch pretty much the same as 4-speed Ford trucks. The flywheel in the Lincoln cars was for 337 use only. The late 49 thru 51 was also used in larger Ford trucks that used the 337 engine. The starter placement may be different and I don't know about the crank flange size but it definitely will not work on an 8BA. The Mercury flywheel will work on an 8BA but it's set up for the Borg & Beck type clutch. Any of the 8BA family of flywheels can be drilled to fit what ever clutch is normally used for various OEM transmissions and the T5 or T170 RTS transmissions that have some popularity. Pre 8BA Ford flywheels have different starter ring gear placement.
