Default Install intake and exhaust manifolds

Hi guys, I will be installing my intake and exhaust manifolds soon. Machine work is done. The question is, do you bolt together the intake and exhaust manifold then install it on the engine then torque the unit to the engine, or, do you loosely tighten the intake and exhaust together then torque it to the engine then tighten the intake to exhaust bolts ? Thanks to all that reply. Dennis

I would loosely bolt the two and then tighten the manifold to block nuts up to about 30# even and then snug up the two cap screws.

I prefer to loosely assemble the two manifolds together, then install/torque on engine, then tighten the two bolts on the manifolds, but not too tight. I also use some anti-sieze on the two bolts.

I've done this once. I securely tightened the bolts holding the intake and exhaust manifolds together, had them machined as a unit, and then bolted it to the engine. This presumed that the manifold surface on the engine was flat; I suppose this might not always be the case.

Bolt them together tightly, grind them till both the intake and exhaust are resurfaced.
bolt on engine as one piece.

I bolt together loosely as that help them to align correctly with the block. Then tighten the studs once snug I do a final tighten on the 2 connecting bolts. I torque to about 20 -25 reck after some drive time
