The Mallory YCM 275 E is for the '49-'53 flatheads. The YC means it is mechanical advance only and the ZC series were mechanical and have a vacuum brake. If your distributor has a jumper wire connecting the point sets someone has set it up to run like a dual point using a conventional coil, rather than a Magspark transformer. If you do have the Magspark transformer it should be clearly marked with the polarity and voltage so make sure it is for your application. After all these years things tend to get mixed and matched.
The cap will by marked inside with the number 24004 if it is the early brown, two piece flat cap and it uses the 24215 rotor which has a spring loaded contact. The later (interchangable) black flat caps are marked 4004 and use the 4215 rotor. The rotor has to match the cap.
