Default What is it?

OK, so it's been so long since I took my engine apart that I forgot what this is and where it goes. I thought I took pictures of everything when I was disassembling it, but somehow missed this. I'm thinking it's a draft tube that goes under the fuel pump stand? If so, do I really need it if I'm using an electric pump without the original mechanical pump?

Thanks, Dave

you are correct. It is a draft tube, especially important on the pre 48-49 engines to keep the oil from blowing out the filler, even if you don't use a mechanical pump.

Thanks. What's the best way to install it? Can I just take the riser off the intake and slip it down the hole, then put the riser back on?

The inner pipe should be press fitted into the fuelpump riser.
